The Second World War was going on. It was a very difficult time in Poland, especially for Jews, and Alex was one of them. His mother disappeared, and his father was taken away by the Germans in an unknown direction. Left completely alone, Alex takes refuge in an abandoned house on Ptichaya Street. He has to climb up and down a makeshift rope ladder every day to get food and fuel. On the street - be on guard all the time. At night, he huddles in his dark shelter: however, Alex still does not despair and believes that soon life will again be the same as before the German occupation. One day he hears someone’s voices near his “home”, and he is overcome with horror...Courage and bravery are not so rare things in wartime, but Alex is only 11 years old, and his story is the story of true courage and victory over cruelty and injustice.
