On the cover of Zarubin’s book is a fragment of one of Levitan’s most famous paintings, “Over Eternal Peace.” The choice fell on her not by chance. The essence of the picture corresponds to the main theme of the writer’s lyrical prose, the main story, the title of which was given to the book itself - “The Long Road to Mom.” Throughout his life, the author carried with him the love for his mother, whom he lost as a fourteen-year-old teenager. He managed to visit her grave fifty years later, and described his complex feelings in simple, heart-stopping words: “...He sat on the grave for a long time, stroking the ground with his palm, as if it were his mother’s head. Then he stood up, went to the edge of the cliff, hugged a young pine tree and looked for a long time at the place where his village had once been: intently, until his eyes hurt, as if he wanted to forever remember and take with him what was dearer to him than anything in the world ..."

Ця книга змушує замислитися про цінність родинних зв'язків і про те, як важливо зберігати пам'ять про тих, кого ми любимо.
