Olga Tokarczuk can be called the darling of the Polish reading public. The book “Pravek and Other Times,” which at one time became the writer’s calling card, made critics remember her as the creator of a unique style, understandable and close to readers of any level of preparedness. Her writing is naive and unpretentious, but it amazes with its wisdom and depth. Pravek (the name of the village, the history of whose inhabitants can be traced throughout the decades of the 20th century) is a symbol of the cycle of time, into which new and new generations of people find themselves drawn in with their destinies, unique and at the same time typical.
