Patricia Highsmith's collection of short stories, Litte Tales of Misoginy, was first published in Germany in 1974 under the title Kleine Geschichten fur Weiberfeinde (Little Stories for Misogynists), translated into German by W. E. Richartz. The original English text was first published in the UK in 1977 by William Heineman. The collection has never been fully published in Russian. Translations of individual stories from this collection, made by Sergei Ilyin, were published; readers of Patricia Highsmith know them: these are the stories “The Hand”, “Una, the Cheerful Primitive Woman”, “The Writer” and “The Artistic Nature”. The rest (thirteen stories) of the Russian-speaking readership was unknown. Now this collection, apparently, appears before the Russian reader in its entirety for the first time. The translation of previously unpublished stories in Russian was made by an Internet user with the nickname “ishima”. All characters, characters and plots are fictitious, any coincidence with real events and people is unintentional and accidental.
