A wonderful atmospheric detective story about the good old Germany of the 90s, when life seemed carefree, sweet and eternal. Early in the morning, on the outskirts of Erfurt, the corpse of a forty-year-old man was discovered. A police inspector arriving at the crime scene soon establishes that the murder did not happen here at all, and the appearance of the murdered man fully matches the description of Walter Oberman, who disappeared some time ago. The inspector’s guesses were confirmed: Gisela, Walter’s wife, who arrived from Frankfurt, identified the corpse. Private investigator Max Wunderlich finds out that the reason for Walter's murder was an ancient medallion that once belonged to his great-grandmother, Baroness Elvira von Strasen. Behind the medallion was a trail of such dark secrets that any of them could provoke a crime. But as soon as the detective began to approach their solution, the murders resumed with cold Nordic methodicality... Allard Bieber is Belarusian by origin, has been living and working in Germany for 20 years, knew Germany and the Germans well, and a fresh look allowed him to notice interesting details that the Germans themselves They don’t see with their blurry eyes.
