Under the name of Demosthenes, 63 works have survived to this day, which are divided into political and judicial. Of these, about forty are genuine; the authorship of the rest is questioned by critics and researchers. However, traditionally they are grouped together under the name “Demosthenian Corpus.” Demosthenes’ works have never been fully translated into Russian. This edition is the first to include a translation of the entire Corpus of speeches of both Demosthenes himself and those attributed to him. It consists of three volumes, although the division into volumes, like the numbering of speeches, is purely conventional. The publication retains the traditional numbering of speeches. The first two volumes include the speeches of Demosthenes, which have never been translated in our country before; their translation was made specifically for this publication. These include speeches XX–XL, included in the first volume, and speeches XLI–LXIII, which made up the second volume. The third volume consists of the so-called political speeches of Demosthenes (I–XIX), already published in Russian in 1954 in a brilliant translation and with detailed detailed comments by the largest Russian classical scientist, Professor S.I. Radzig.CONTENTS:Preface (5).SPEECHES OF DEMOSPHENESXX. Against Leptin on Atelia (9).XXI. Against Midias about the slap (61).XXII. Against Androtion for violation of laws (132).XXIII.
