The manuscript "Kankai ibun" ("Amazing information about the seas surrounding [the Earth") is a recording of interrogations processed by shogunal officials of four Japanese sailors who were shipwrecked on the Russian shores and returned to Japan by the Russian embassy led by the chamberlain of the court of Alexander I, authorized by the Russian-American company N.P. Rezanov. The translation of "Kankai Ibun" from the collection of the manuscript collection of the St. Petersburg Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences was the last work of the famous St. Petersburg Japanese scholar V.
