Swami Brahmananda Sri Shiva Prabhakara Siddha Yoga Paramahamsa is the greatest siddha, a student of the Master of the Siddha tradition Sri Paambatti. He is a Guru in the Avadhut tradition, and formally a sannyasin of the Shaiva-kaula-siddhanta school. Swami Brahmananda was a holy fool, radical and detached, a Master of “crazy wisdom”, indifferent to the opinions of others about him. He lived under different names, without growing old, for many eras in many places in India, both in the north and in the south. Being a master of secret techniques, possessing the power of moving consciousness, he repeatedly changed bodies, dissolving each of them in Light. Thus, having changed about fifteen bodies, Swami lived for 723 years. Over the years, Swami Brahmananda has described the ancient methods of Shiva Yoga in many texts. Tradition says that no one can realize Mahasamadhi on his birthday, but Swami Brahmananda surpassed even this limitation by demonstrating his limitless yogic power. After the dissolution of his physical body in the presence of many of his followers and admirers, the siddha Brahmananda more than once came to his chosen disciples to continue to initiate them into secret knowledge, thereby showing them that he had surpassed the laws of space, time and death. Compiled by: Swami Vishnudevananda Giri.
