The achievements of scientific and technological progress that marked the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries have changed our world beyond recognition, opening up completely new, previously unseen markets and creating new needs for each of us. Computers, smartphones, continuous access to the Internet have established a new economic reality, which in just a couple of decades has spread throughout the world.
The basis of the modern digital economy are technology companies known to each of us: Google, Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, etc., having formed a special type of capitalism based on the control and processing of huge amounts of data - platform capitalism. This raises a lot of questions for the left: what is the political economy of platform capitalism? where is its development heading? Is it possible to fight it effectively?
The most notable leftist work in recent years analyzing platform capitalism is the book by British political scientist and Marxist Nick Srniczka “Platform Capitalism,” which we invite you to get acquainted with.
