Giovanni Giacomo Casanova, the great adventurer, was not only a great seducer, but also a writer who left magnificent Memoirs that immortalized the name of the author. However, in the shadow of these Memoirs there remained a book that had never before been translated into Russian: “The History of My Escape from the Venetian Prison Called Piombi” (1787). It was written in Bohemia at the castle of Dux in French.
