The book consists of philosophical treatises by the famous speaker and writer “On the Limits of Good and Evil” and “Paradoxes of the Stoics.” The first - “De finibus bonorum et malorum” - was translated more than 100 years ago (translator P.P. Gvozdev, 1889, Kazan) and has long become a bibliographic rarity. The second - “Paradoxa stoicorum” - has not previously been translated into Russian. The introductory article introduces the content of the treatise into the context of both the general philosophical constructions of Cicero and the system of philosophical theories of Hellenism. A general description of the compositional structure of the treatise is given, an analysis of its main substantive aspects in comparison with other philosophical works of antiquity is given. The book includes historical and real notes, a historical and philosophical commentary, an explanation of philosophical terms, definitions, evidence, etc., as well as a philological commentary , which examines the original work of Cicero himself, the changes he made to Greek sources, and provides an interpretation of the dark parts of the text. For specialists and a wide range of readers.
