The plot of the novel “Vanina Vanini” is based on a real historical event - the struggle of the Venta (one of the cells of the organization for the liberation of Italy from foreign rule) of the Carbonari and its death. The driving force was the female character - passionate, proud, wanting to achieve her goal at any cost. The collection also includes the short stories “The Chest and the Ghost” and “The Elixir of Love.”
