Yuri Vizbor is rightfully considered one of the founders of the art song genre. Yuri Iosifovich is a very multifaceted personality: by education he is a teacher, by vocation he is a journalist, poet, bard, actor, screenwriter, playwright. In his youth, he mastered various professions: 1st class radio operator, during his army service he flew airplanes, drilled a tunnel on the Abakan-Tayshet highway, fished in the northern seas... The true masculine character of a climber and traveler was also evident in his songs, which were especially popular in 1960-1970s. Yuri Vizbor's favorite heroes are pilots, sailors, climbers, simple workers - real men, brave, reliable and loyal, for whom the concepts of Friendship, Honor, Dignity, Duty are far from empty words. “Song of the Climbers”, “Brigantine”, “My Darling”, “If I Get Sick...” by Yuri Vizbor forever entered the classics of Russian art songs, they still sound today, evoking nostalgia for a bygone romantic era.
