For a year now, the Roman legions under the command of Aulus Plautus have been fighting in Britain. The order of Emperor Claudius is clear: to capture the leader of the Britons, Caratacus. The Romans prepared a cunning trap for him. However, Caratacus turned out to be even more cunning. Now the huge horde of natives is opposed only by the Third Cohort, in whose ranks the centurion Cato, a young but promising commander, is fighting. The Romans survived the bloodbath, but Caratacus managed to escape. The emperor's order was not carried out... The third cohort is subjected to decimation - every tenth warrior must be executed. By chance, the convicts manage to escape. Now Cato and his brothers in arms became outcasts, enemies for everyone - both their own and others. But the Roman legionnaire will never back down - not before anyone or anything...
