Erno’s favorite technique is a retrospective, which she also resorts to in her second novel, “Shame,” where the narrator “resurrects the world of her childhood,” telling about the most intimate things, in order to finally overcome and forever get rid of the ever-haunting shame for belonging to the “vulgar” class - the small-scale bourgeoisie.
