People love extremes. So they worship a great variety of different gods. Sometimes they suddenly begin to adamantly believe in only one, single thing. Sometimes their deities are frantic and passionate, sometimes strict and ascetic. Sometimes faith in the supernatural is immeasurable and fanatical, then suddenly, with the same fervor, faith is discarded and consigned to contempt. Humanity loves extremes. It looks like a small child. For only a child can place himself at the center of the Universe; due to childish frivolity, he is unable to realize the greatness and infinity of the Universe. Or maybe an infinite number of universes. There is no greater pleasure than stepping on the same rake again and again. Now man himself has been declared the crown of creation. The new deity is science and technology.
