The difficulties of the transition to peaceful construction, a complex set of social and political contradictions that were the result of three years of civil war, the fatigue of the working masses, the petty-bourgeois hesitations of the peasantry - all this was reflected in the events of the Kronstadt rebellion of 1921. The international counter-revolution sought to use the rebellion to fight against Soviet state. The quick and decisive defeat of the rebels became possible thanks to the heroic energy of the party, the dedication and courage of the Red soldiers and commanders. The liquidation of the Kronstadt rebellion in March 1921 was a significant milestone in the transition period from war to peace, when the foundations of the new economic policy of the Soviet state were laid.
