Ivan Kotlyarevsky is a Ukrainian writer and cultural and public figure. He played an important role in the formation of new Ukrainian literature and in the development of the Ukrainian literary language. Born into the family of a minor official, he studied at the Poltava Theological Seminary (1780-89). In the literary heritage of the outstanding Ukrainian poet and playwright, the central place is occupied by the poem "Aeneid", which uses the plot outline of the work of the same name by Virgil. This edition includes other works by I.P. Kotlyarevsky, including the dramas “Natalka Poltavka” and “Soldier-Sorcerer”.
