In his new novel, Englishman Peter Mayle describes his gastronomic journey through France, which opened his eyes to the truth of French cuisine, as well as his other “culinary” trips made subsequently. His gastronomic experiences are varied and wonderful - presented appetizingly and expertly. He describes, for example, his participation in a closed charity auction, where participants spent huge sums of money fighting for the right to taste the only unique black truffle. He eats rare species of frogs in Vittel, in the Vosges province. He goes to Martigny-les-Bains for the Snail Fair. Then, south of Saint-Tropez, he visits Club 55 and other unusual places.
