The series publishes the novel “Valerie” (1803), written in French, by Baroness Julia Krudener (Varvara-Juliana Krudener) (1764-1824) - a Russian subject of German origin. He became one of the examples of early European romanticism. Dedicated to the theme of impossible love, imbued with the spirit of romantic longing and the melancholic fusion of youth and death, the novel was the focus of the leading literary trends of the era. In “Eugene Onegin” A.S. Pushkin included “the charming story of Baroness Krudener” in Tatiana’s reading circle. In the “Additions” section, for the first time, J.
