The world learned the name of the English writer Daphne Du Maurier (1907–1989) in 1938, after the publication of the novel “Rebecca,” and although more than one generation of readers has changed since then, her fame has not faded. The collection of short stories Blue Lenses, published in 1959, included eight unusual stories. In them, the author explores the thin line separating the real world and the imaginary world, the norm and the anomaly, the game of fantasy and crime. Where is the truth, where is the lie, who can you trust? Who will be able to stay at the last line? Who will cross it and take a step that will inevitably lead to a breakdown, collapse, catastrophe, tragedy?.. Three stories in the collection - “Pond”, “Archduchess”, “Trophy” - are being published in Russian for the first time.
