Lermontov's work, which lasted for less than thirteen years (1828–1841) with extraordinary intensity, was the highest point in the development of Russian poetry in the post-Pushkin period and opened new paths for Russian prose. Associated with it is the concept of “1830s” (not in the chronological, but in the historical and literary sense: mid-1820s - early 1840s), characterized by growing interest in the latest trends in idealistic and religious philosophy (F. Schelling, G. V. F. Hegel) and at the same time deepening social introspection, dialectical literary thinking, attention to the deep laws of the historical process.
