The book by the famous French writer Nathalie Sarraute (she was born in 1900 in Russia, in the city of Ivanovo-Voznesensk) includes: the autobiographical story “Childhood” (1983) and the novel “Golden Fruits” (1963), a vivid example of a new direction in European literature, the "new novel", of which she is one of the founders. The "new novel" reflected the state of consciousness of a person of the 20th century, who experienced the most complex, often tragic turns of socio-historical development, the collapse of established views and ideas due to the emergence of new knowledge in various areas of spiritual life (Einstein's theory of relativity, Freud's teachings, the artistic discoveries of Proust, Kafka, Joyce), which forced a radical revision of existing values.
