The book “Blue Island” is unique - it was not only published after the author’s death (which is not so uncommon), but was also written by him after he left his physical body. William Stead was on his way to the United States at the invitation of President Taft when the ship he was traveling on collided with an iceberg. The surviving passengers of the Titanic could only report that he helped women and children get into the boats, and then headed into the salon, where he sat down in a chair and began to read a book. His daughter, Estelle Stead, managed to establish a connection with her father with the help of a medium two weeks after the crash. And later, her friend, who also had the corresponding abilities, Pardo Woodman, began to record messages from William Stead using automatic writing. In them, Stead described the place where he found himself after death, and his daily activities, and also shared thoughts about life as it now seemed to him - from another world. The book was first published in 1922. Even in manuscript, it aroused great interest from a supporter of the ideas of spiritualism, writer Arthur Conan Doyle; his letter addressed to Estelle Stead is included in the book.
