Photographer Efim Fedortsev and artist Andrei Znamensky found themselves in the thick of the Georgian-Ossetian war. Massive artillery shelling, the clearing of Tskhinvali taken by surprise, the death of civilians - all this is happening before their eyes. War inexorably draws friends into its vortex. Znamensky takes the machine gun of a killed Ossetian militiaman, discovering with amazement that this is the same weapon with which he once served in these parts for military service. Then his machine was silent, now he spoke. In a few days, Andrei became a real fighter: skillful, decisive, careful. And one more thing: he realized that there is no neutral zone in this war, just as there cannot be a neutral, indifferent attitude towards the lies and duplicity of politicians...
