At first glance, the theme of the book is a naive inventory of the territories we inhabit. But the virtuoso stylist and experimenter Georges Perec (1936–1982) appears in it not so much as an inquisitive sociologist, but rather as a crafty philosopher, comparable to Alice from Wonderland, and also as a puzzling anthropologist: changing points of view and angles, disturbing perception, he proposes to rethink and , humanizing, remaking spaces. This text fits organically into the global strategy of transformation, along with such programmatic works of the 20th century as “Words and Things” by Michel Foucault, “The System of Things” by Jean Baudrillard and “The Society of the Spectacle” by G.-E. Deborah.
