The events that Sienkiewicz addressed in the novel “The Crusaders” were of great importance both for the history of Poland and for the neighboring Slavic and Baltic peoples, who became the object of German feudal aggression. This is the decisive stage of the struggle against the Teutonic Order, when the famous Battle of Grunwald in 1410 took place, the power was broken and the expansion of the predatory state was stopped.
