The book by the living classic of Italian literature Bianca Pitzorno (b. 1942) “Listen to my heart” with illustrations by Quentin Blake was published in 1991 and immediately won the love of readers. In the autobiographical novel, the writer talks about one school year in the early 1950s. Absurd episodes showing the tyranny of adults and the defenselessness of children in the face of their injustice are interspersed with funny essays by the main character, stories about a turtle, a chronicle of the fight against Slickers and Hypocrites and girlish chatter. The book was published with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Italian Republic.
