Paris, 1830s, the ideas of the Great French Revolution are still in the air. Nine-year-old Sophie and her mother live in poverty and somehow survive by sewing custom-made linen. One day, to help her seriously ill mother, Sophie undertakes to take sewn shirts to a wealthy area of Paris. So she ends up in the house of the famous ballerina Celine Varens, who takes an orphaned girl into her family and takes care of her. Having become the ballerina's pupil, Sophie gets acquainted with her circle: the old aristocrat and revolutionary Citizen Marquis, who teaches all children regardless of their social status, and by a black slave boy, Toussaint, brought from the colonies. It would seem that now, in the circle of friends, Sophie no longer has to worry about the future. But happiness is deceptive: after a few years, the ballerina is instantly deprived of her home, family and freedom. And then young Sophie becomes Celine’s faithful protector, nanny and guardian angel of her little daughter and the heroine of adventures that we will follow with bated breath. The historical novel “The French Nanny” by the famous Italian writer Bianca Pitzorno, gracefully woven into the fabric of another novel, was written in in the best traditions of the classic novel, full of original references to works of culture and art of the 19th century.
