The collection of essays is a continuation of the description of events begun in the story “The Train Goes East.” The author talks about his work as a foreign teacher of the Russian language at various universities in China for nine years, about his relationships with students, with colleagues, with the leadership of departments, faculties and universities. Talks about the difficulties encountered in teaching Russian as a foreign language, about the search for mutual understanding with people who have a different mentality.
