The modified project “Forges et Chantiers de la Méditeranée” will become “Jauregibéry”, founded in La Seine in April 1891. The project of engineer Saglio, after a number of improvements, will be transferred to the Toulon arsenal for implementation. The ship received the name “Lazare-Carnot”. For the sake of completeness, it should be noted that in addition to the above five engineers, four more engineers responded to the ministerial telegram dated January 28, 1891, who were supposed to present designs for the battleship: engineer of the 2nd class Baysseiance, director of the arsenal Rochefort Berrier-Fontaine, Emile Bertin and engineer de Bussy, who, after retirement, became the “technical consultant” of the Atelier et Chantiers de la Loire in Saint-Nazaire. The projects of the first two would be rejected, the project of the engineer Burtin, who turned to the “checkered belt” as a defense, was rejected in principle; de Busy’s project then became “Masena”. As for the engineer Yuen, he provided the “Improved Charles-Martel” project, which turned out to be preferable to the Saglio project “Improved Carnot” and gave birth to the “Bouvet”, laid down in Lorient on January 16, 1893. And so, the engineer Saglio’s project became battleship "Carnot"...
