French playwright and screenwriter Jean-Claude Grumbert was on a tour abroad presenting his book The Most Expensive Commodity when his wife Jacqueline died in hospital. They lived together for 60 years. Since then, every hour, day and night, he has been trying to tell her everything that he didn’t have time or didn’t dare, to keep her close for a little while longer, to fill the gaping emptiness with words.
