On July 20, 1941, Wehrmacht tank groups that broke through the Stalin line were surrounded in front of the rear defensive line on the Western Dvina - Dnieper line near the cities of Pärnu and Kyiv and defeated. The main battles took place in the Baltic states, where thousands of soldiers from both sides died for each town. In autumn and winter, the ousting of German troops from Soviet territory began.
