On the night of October 1, 1939, Stalin had a nightmare, which he interpreted as a warning from the subconscious about the possibility of a German attack on the USSR. And the leadership of the Soviet state before the war seriously began to prepare precisely to repel aggression. The plan for the war with Germany was based on a strategy of deeply echeloned positional defense. Industry, weapons and the army in the pre-war period were reorganized to solve this problem.
