Political events of recent years have drawn attention mainly to the conflict between Western and Eastern Ukraine and the difficult fate of Crimea. However, the potential of federalization is much broader. Articles from different years included in the collection were written mainly by Ukrainian authors. They do not at all directly correlate with the latest events in our neighbor, but they help to understand the dynamics of the development of the idea of changing the administrative-territorial structure of Ukraine. Here there is a debate on the problems of bilingualism and cultural differences between the regions of the country, and criticism of the imperfections of dividing regions and districts at the turn of the millennium, and projects for the reconstruction of the state proposed today. The political developments of the last years brought focus onto the conflict between the Western and the Eastern parts of Ukraine as well as the hard fate of Crimea. However, the federal potential is significantly wider. Articles included in this compilation were published at different times mostly by Ukrainian authors. They do not directly correlate with the recent events in our neighboring country but help to understand the dynamics of the idea of changing the administrative and territorial constitution of Ukraine. Here we find such issues as bilingualism and cultural differences between different parts of the country, critique of the presently imperfect province and regional division, projects of reforming the State that were proposed in our days.
