The Complete Works of V. A. Zhukovsky, for the first time in editorial practice, represents the legacy of the great Russian poet in the most complete volume to date. Zhukovsky's texts are given on the basis of a critical understanding of all the poet's known autographs and lifetime publications. The 13th and 14th volumes contain Zhukovsky's diary prose, which includes three interrelated sections: the diaries themselves, diary letters and notebooks. The 14th volume contains diary entries from 1834-1847, which include materials from “Synoptic notes on the death of Pushkin”, a trip with the heir to Russia in 1837, a third trip abroad in 1838-1839, a notebook “Thoughts and remarks”, as well as the story of his marriage to Elisabeth Reitern and subsequent life in Germany. The volume ends with an appendix containing a brief chronicle of the poet’s life and work and an annotated index of names for volumes 13 and 14.
