Richard Marder, a humble literary editor and former Vietnam War veteran, lives a peaceful life but has a guilty conscience. In the past there is unfinished business, an unpaid debt, an unavenged insult. When the doctor gives him a terrible diagnosis, Marder understands: now or never. Having left his job and home, he and a fellow soldier go to Mexico - to a city where there is no power except that which is taken by force. The townspeople live in terror of the all-powerful drug cartels - but a two-man army challenges the bandits.
