“A Blank Page” is the eleventh book of poems by Zinaida Mirkina, a significant and original Russian poetess, in whose poems “the synthesis of world culture is organic, like a living tree” (Wolfgang Kazak). Zinaida Mirkina is the author of many books of poetic translations, essays and fiction. Among the writers with whose heritage Mirkina’s work organically “rhymes” are Tsvetaeva, Dostoevsky, Pushkin... Among her translation preferences are Rilke and Arabic Sufi poetry. The choice of translated poems is not accidental - mystical poetry, addressed to the depth of being, circling around God (as Rilke puts it) is the main line of all poetry books by Zinaida Mirkina.
