1904, England. After finishing her studies at college, Ruby Mae gets a job as a nanny in the house of Charles and Lilian England, a wealthy couple who receive income from the textile industry. Ruby believes that caring for England's children will be a great opportunity for her to gain experience and earn good references. However, everyday life in a beautiful but gloomy house is not quite what Ruby expected. In addition, she develops a difficult relationship with the local servants.
