Sixteen-year-old Dario is considered a difficult teenager. His relationship with his mother does not go well, and at school the teacher openly calls him a “freak.” As punishment for petty hooliganism, the young man is sent to social work: now he must help Andy, who has difficulty speaking and moving. Almost from the very beginning, Dario sees his ward as an ordinary boy and perfectly understands his thoughts and feelings, which are not so different from his own. And to sort them out, Dario takes Andy to the sea. The wind, the sun, the warm sand, the sound of the sea and conversations do what many of the adults around the teenagers had previously failed to do: they change them. And this journey, with its irony, breaking stereotypes, and the spirit of freedom, becomes the main thing in the lives of the heroes - just like in the cinematic masterpieces of Thomas Jahn and Til Schweiger “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” and Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano “1+1.” Italian writer Gabriele Klima ( born in 1967) often raises social issues in his works addressed to teenagers and talks equally with young readers about social inclusion, physical disabilities, mental health, migration - and does it masterfully. “For its ability to cope with sensitive topics and situations without falling into moralizing” - with this wording, Andersen magazine awarded the novel “The Sun Through Your Fingers” with an award in the category “Best Book for Children Over 15 Years”, and the International Council on Children's and Young People's Literature included this story was included in the list of the world's 50 best books talking about disability. Readers highly appreciated the novel for its sincerity and lightness.
