The novel tells about the dramatic events of the liberation war of the Ukrainian people against Polish-gentry oppression (1648-1654). The epic scale, breadth, and dramatic character of Bogdan Khmelnitsky make the novel fascinating, dynamic, full of unpredictable ups and downs through which fate leads the main character. The work was written on behalf of the hetman himself, reviewing his life path before and after death - “in glory.”
