After the death of Vsevolod the Big Nest, his sons came together in a mortal struggle for the grand-ducal table, and this confrontation ended with a grandiose massacre on Lipitsa in 1216. In this conflict, as in a mirror, all the problems of medieval Rus' were reflected. The inability of close relatives to come to an agreement among themselves, the desire of some representatives of the highest elite to profit at the expense of others, the irresponsibility of rulers when making fateful decisions and the mad pursuit of military glory by princes. The combination of all the above reasons led to the most severe bloodshed on Mount Avdova. The Battle of Lipitsa became a clear example of the senselessness and destructiveness of princely feuds. The book shows the interconnectedness of all these events in Rus' at the beginning of the 13th century. The author paid much attention to the military history of Suzdal land.
