Alfred Szklarski is one of the most popular Polish writers writing for young people. Polish readers especially loved Shklyarsky's cycle of adventure novels. The cycle is united by images of the main characters traveling to various exotic countries of the globe. Despite the commonality of the characters, each novel is a separate book, the content of which is determined by the travels and adventures of Tomek Vilmovsky, the young hero of the novels, and his adult comrades. In addition to the advantages inherent in books of an adventure nature in general, Shklyarsky’s novels are distinguished by great educational and cognitive values. The plot of the novels is built taking into account the latest scientific achievements of pedagogy. Novels teach young readers independence, instill in them strength of character and nobility. The first and second editions of the series of adventures of Tomek Vilmovsky sold out very quickly and are very popular among young Soviet readers, as evidenced by letters received by the publishing house from all over the Soviet Union. We hope that the third edition will be greeted with the same sympathy, so we are happy to give this series into the hands of young friends.
