The existence of life on many SS worlds depends on the energy supplied to them in batteries by the monopoly corporation Interplanetary Energy, headed by Spencer Chambers. On all inhabited planets, Spencer planted his own governments and established a dictatorship. Those who are dissatisfied are sent to prison or destroyed. Earth scientists Russell Page and Gregory Manning, while researching force fields, accidentally discovered a method for producing the cheapest and most accessible energy of matter. Chambers does not allow scientists to patent the discovery and sell energy generators, since this would mean the end of his dictatorship. Using the many side effects of their discovery, scientists staged revolutions on the planets, overthrew puppet governments, bankrupted Chambers, patented their invention and began selling matter energy generators to other planets.
