The Russian reader discovers a new name - Catalin Dorian Florescu. An excellent storyteller who knows how to notice the smallest details, convey emotions in halftones, and track all the movements of the characters’ souls. “Jacob Decides to Love” is Florescu’s first book published in Russian and the fifth he wrote. It was this novel that was awarded the prestigious literary prize The Swiss Book Prize in 2011 and, according to Mikhail Shishkin, “catapulted its author to the forefront of modern European literature.” The saga “Jacob Decides to Love” is polyphonic and multicolored, it covers the events of the 18th–20th centuries centuries, and the heroes did not live a single day without confronting the forces of nature, life circumstances, historical cataclysms. And yet, this is a book about love - love in the original, biblical sense, about how the ability to forgive and let go is a gift that not many are worthy of.
