Georgy Florovsky (1893-1979) is one of the most prominent Orthodox theologians and historians of the twentieth century, the inspirer of the “return to the Holy Fathers of the Church” in modern theology. The neopatristic direction of Florovsky and his followers is often contrasted with the theological “modernism” of Sergius Bulgakov and sophiology.
