"Criton" is a dialogue work by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato, which tells about the dialogue between Socrates and his friend Crito in the prison where Socrates is sentenced to death. This dialogue discusses issues of morality, law, justice, and human nature.
Through the image of Crito, Plato illuminates the concept of obedience to the law and inner freedom of conscience. The wisdom and honesty of Crito is ultimately confronted with the logic and intuition of Socrates, which forces readers to think about the origin of moral norms and their relationship to law.
In "Criton" Plato posed complex ethical dilemmas that remain relevant to this day, because the question of to what extent a person should follow the laws of society and his own conscience is always relevant.
