The middle of the 18th century in Europe was marked by a severe crisis that transformed the system of international relations on the continent. One of the results of several difficult military conflicts was the weakening of the position of Austria in Germany and the emergence of the Prussian state as a new important factor in the European system of states. The work is devoted to one of the stages of this conflict, called the Second Silesian War (1744-45), as a result of which the Prussian king Frederick II managed to defend the province of Silesia. The main emphasis is placed on the description and analysis of military operations and battles. At the same time, a significant place is given to the political context. The events that took place both at the allied courts of Prussia (France, Bavaria), and at the courts of opponents (Austria, Saxony) and neutral states (Great Britain, Russia) are covered. The book is written on the basis of a wide range of sources and literature, and will be of interest to both specialists and lovers of military and political history of the 18th century.
