Two novels - "The Last Hetman" and "The Chase" - were included in the book of the famous master of modern Ukrainian prose Yuriy Mushketyk. The center of the first novel is Kyrylo Hryhorovych Rozumovsky, a prominent historical figure, a statesman, the last helmsman of Cossack Ukraine. No matter what assessments historians give him, we have before us an educated and far-sighted politician who, having assumed the hetmanship, directed his actions primarily to the modernization of the Cossack system. He carried out several important reforms and, despite any oppression and obstacles, stood up to defend the rights and freedoms of Cossack autonomy.The novel "The Pursuit" is a fascinating story about a typical Cossack, who doesn't give a damn, about his sad and funny adventures on the long way from Sich home.
