The Financier (1912) is the first part of the monumental Trilogy of Desires, which also includes the novels The Titan and The Stoic. It is based on the life story of millionaire Charles Yerks. The protagonist of the trilogy is Frank Cowperwood. The commercial environment that has surrounded Frank since childhood, forms in him the psychology of an entrepreneur. Starting with petty speculations, gradually getting involved in bold and risky operations, in the face of fierce struggle, Cowperwood acquires a fortune. Assertiveness, energy and talent make the hero a financial genius. Realizing the power of his accumulated capital and professional experience, Frank Cowperwood proclaims his life slogan, which gave the name of the entire trilogy: "My desires come first." The dictionary pays special attention to financial and economic terms. The book is intended for university students, students of foreign language courses and those who study English on their own.
